Recently, information appeared online that the president of the Russian Red Cross (RRC) is affiliated with a pro-Putin “patriotic” organization, and RRC employees talk about the impossibility of peace with “Ukrainian Nazis.” Moreover, the RCC participates in military training camps and exercises for children, where the ideology of continuing the war against Ukraine is spread, and the symbols of aggression “Z” are used,” writes Dmytro Lubinets on his Telegram page..
It is also possible that Russia aims to have new Russian-funded RF organizations operating in the TOT of Ukraine. This once again proves that the occupiers are ready to use even the world-famous name of a humanitarian organization for their political and military purposes!
As the Ombudsman of Ukraine, I have already sent a letter to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent to:
- Such actions were publicly condemned.
- A transparent investigation into the actions of the Russian Red Cross was conducted.
- For the duration of the investigation, RCH’s membership and participation in the community was suspended.
- If the investigation confirms the allegations, it is necessary to demand that the organization be expelled from the federation.
I would like to remind you that the RRC is a part of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, so it must comply with the mission and principles of the movement. In particular, the principle of “neutrality”.
The day before, VSquare published an investigation that the RCC regularly cooperates with Russian patriotic military camps, and in January 2024, the head of the organization, Pavel Savchuk, signed a cooperation agreement with the Artek children’s camp in Crimea. The EU and the US have imposed sanctions on the camp’s director, Konstantin Fedorenko, for deporting Ukrainian children.
