Instagram is preparing to launch the Friends Map feature, which is similar to Snap Map from Snapchat. It will allow users to see the location of their friends in real time. This idea was revealed by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who often reveals features at the development stage before the official launch.

If Instagram is planning to officially introduce a Friends Map, it will be a follow-up to Apple’s popular Snapchat or Find Me feature, which allows users to see the location of their friends and family. This new feature of the Instagram app will give users another reason to spend more time on the platform.

According to screenshots posted by Paluzzi, Instagram’s Friends Map will allow users to choose who can see their location. Location data will be encrypted end-to-end. Users will be able to share their location with subscribers, with “Close Friends” or not share it at all, and the map will have a “Ghost Mode” that will hide the user’s last active location.
