On the night of April 5, 2024, as part of a joint operation by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine, the largest drone attack on Russian military airfields in the entire conflict was launched.

The targets of the attacks were the Morozovsk airfield near Rostov, the Engels air base, the Khalino airfield in the Kursk region, and the airfield in Yeysk, Krasnodar Territory. The operation was aimed at destroying Russian military aircraft, including Tu-95 strategic bombers.

The attacks, which were carried out in accordance with the strategy of Ukrainian forces, damaged several military aircraft and caused casualties among Russian military personnel. Despite attempts by Russian air defense to repel the attack, it was unable to effectively counter the large number of drones.

This operation demonstrates the high level of coordination and effectiveness of the Ukrainian special services and the Defense Forces, as well as the importance of the strategy of striking the aggressor’s military infrastructure in the deep rear.

The Ukrainian side emphasizes the need to continue such operations in order to undermine the combat potential of the aggressor state and strengthen its own defense capabilities.
