Representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War Andriy Yusov emphasized that our cohesion has secured international support and remains the biggest obstacle for Putin in his war against us.

He expressed this opinion on May 27 during his speech at the press center of the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, which took place as part of a roundtable discussion on “Ways to Strengthen Ukraine’s Social Resilience: Values-Based Expertise. ” As part of the event, leading Ukrainian experts identified the most pressing problems of Ukraine’s defense capability.

The event was organized by the Conservative Platform (a joint project of the NGO “Foundation for Promotion of Democracy” and the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Ukraine) and the Ukrainian Security Club.

It has been three years since the beginning of the full-scale war, and all this time Ukraine has been living in conditions of constant tension and struggle. However, right now it is crucial not only to survive, but also to understand the situation we find ourselves in and what we need to do today, tomorrow and after the war. We must plan not only for victory, but also for our post-war future, which must be democratic and at the same time ready for new threats,” the military said.

The main challenge we face every day is to maintain unity. It is this unity, which came as a real surprise to Putin and the FSB, that allowed Ukraine not only to withstand, but also to launch a counteroffensive. It proved to the world that Ukrainians are a nation that effectively resists the aggressor.

Russian special services are using all methods to destroy this unity. They manipulate sensitive topics such as prisoners of war or missing persons, try to turn some Ukrainians against others, discredit our military, undermining public confidence in them. However, these attempts are failing strategically. Despite the difficult international situation, Europe’s support for Ukraine is only getting stronger.

What should Ukrainians who shape public opinion do? First and foremost, they need to observe information hygiene. Consume information only from verified, official and authoritative sources, avoid anonymous messages that deliberately sow discord.

It is also important to actively support and develop grassroots initiatives and forms of self-organization. Ukrainian volunteers have proven that it is grassroots activity that makes our unity not just sustainable, but effective. We need not only financial donations, but also any other actions that strengthen the interaction between the military and civilians, between local communities and veterans returning from the front or prisoners of war who need support.

It is these forms of cooperation that create new solutions and strengthen the country’s defense capabilities, allowing Ukraine to remain united and unbreakable in its confrontation with the aggressor.
