Despite weeks of propaganda mobilization and considerable expenditures from the Russian budget, the occupation administration in the temporarily occupied territories failed to organize full-fledged parades for May 9. The announced celebrations turned out to be a fiction – people did not gather for the events, and the declared “atmosphere of victory” remained only in the reports of collaborators.

Even the day before, propaganda hysteria reigned in the TOT: schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and public facilities were turned into showboating venues: posters with Soviet slogans were pasted everywhere, people were forced to wear St. George’s ribbons and join dozens of events dedicated to the “Victory Day.” However, on Day X, none of this worked.

According to the Center for National Resistance, local residents refused to carry portraits of the occupiers and participate in parades. The occupiers failed to create the desired “picture”. The celebrations looked pathetic. Here is an example from occupied Donetsk. As you can see, there is no hint of large-scale events. It was just a field kitchen. Although judging by the number of people who came, it is unlikely that the locals liked the idea.

That is why the occupation authorities urgently came up with an excuse: that the mass celebrations were canceled due to the “security situation.” But in reality, the reason is indifference and quiet sabotage on the part of the residents themselves.

As we can see, Ukrainians in the TOT do not believe in the fake “liberation” and refuse to be part of this theater of the absurd.
