TheNGO “Foundation for Promotion of Democracy” together with Hanns Seidel Stiftung Ukraine and Centre for Security and Development Centre are launching a new stage of a large-scale study of the situation of Ukrainians living abroad.

TheReturnproject aims to develop evidence-based recommendations for Ukraine’s state policy on the return and reintegration of citizens.

“This research is unique in that we study not only statistics, but also people’s real stories, their experience of adaptation and the factors that influence their decision to return,” the project organisers say.

Particular attention is paid to the development of practical tools that will facilitate this:

  • successful reintegration of Ukrainians
  • solving the demographic crisis
  • economic recovery of the country

All Ukrainians who travelled abroad after 24 February 2022 can take part in the anonymous survey, regardless of whether they have already returned to Ukraine.

The results of the study will form the basis for the development of specific recommendations to the authorities, volunteer organisations and international foundations to support Ukrainians abroad and create conditions for their return.
