The recent statements by Trump and Hungarian Prime Minister Orban’s advisor about surrender as the best option to save human lives indicate a threatening worldview trend in the West.
Donald Trump’s recent statement about the need to sign a “deal” with the Russian aggressor not only convinces us of the expediency of capitulation, but also demonstrates capitulation as part of the worldview of Western elites. “We continue to give billions of dollars to a man who refuses to make a deal – Zelensky. He could not make a deal that would be better than the situation you have now. You have a country that has been destroyed. You will never be able to replace these cities and towns, and you will never be able to replace the people who died, so many people who died. Any deal, even the worst deal, would be better than what we have now,” Trump said, implying that it is better to surrender to the aggressor than to fight and resist. By the way, this is an interesting and unambiguous signal to China, which will now know how Trump thinks under the threat of war.
Another “white flag” came from Hungary this week. The chief political adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Balazs Orban, a representative of the ruling party that has the support of more than half of the electorate, said that his country would not have resisted in the event of aggression. “We would probably not have done what President Zelensky did two and a half years ago, because it is irresponsible,” said the Hungarian prime minister’s aide. He mentioned the need to save “valuable Hungarian lives,” called the resistance to the invasion “irresponsible,” and emphasized that “Zelensky entered a defensive war” and that this was what led to a large number of casualties and destruction. Although later, under pressure from the opposition, Balazs rejected his own words and said that he had been misunderstood and would actually go to defend his homeland with arms in hand, the intelligence services of the countries concerned drew the appropriate conclusions.
The surrenderist message of the political director and adviser to the Hungarian prime minister is a threat to the entire NATO bloc, as some of Hungary’s political elites are ready to surrender freely and let Russian troops pass through their territory into the heart of Europe – to the borders of Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, and Serbia.
Similar messages about capitulation as an “easier scenario” were heard among other European MPs and party leaders, who showed that capitulation is becoming a trend in some societies in the West. Switzerland’s recent accession to the Sino-Brazilian “peace plan” that will legitimize Russia’s occupation of part of Ukraine is also a card from this deck, showing that it is better to make concessions to the aggressor than to fight.
But the worst thing is that millions of Europeans killed and tortured in Russian concentration camps will have to pay for the surrenderist phrases, frivolously uttered by Western politicians far from military reality and from understanding Russia, when Russian occupiers come to their lands. And then to the children and descendants of these politicians, who will have to wage a difficult war against Russian tyranny. The ancient phrase that the armor of a warrior is always heavier than the chains of a slave is being forgotten again.
