On Tuesday, April 2, the Belarusian armed forces began military exercises in the regions bordering Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus. It is noted that on April 2-4, a command and staff exercise will be held with the territorial defense forces of the Rogachev and Kormyansky districts of the Gomel region, BelTA reports.

A comprehensive territorial defense training will be held in the Gomel region from April 2 to 4. The exercise aims to assess the readiness of military units. Also, by the end of April, a training camp with territorial troops liable for military service will be held in Minsk region. And since last month, Belarus has been testing the combat readiness of its armed forces. It is also reported that the Wagnerites who remained in the country are taking part in the exercises.

“During the exercise, it is planned to work out the issues of protection and defense of the territorial defense facility, as well as participation in martial law measures with the involvement of volunteers of the people’s militia,” the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.

The Ministry of Defense also said that from April 2 to 26, a training camp with territorial troops subject to military service will be held under the leadership of the head of the Vileika District Executive Committee of Minsk Oblast.

“As part of the training, the territorial troops will be received and provided with comprehensive support with the involvement of the local mobilization deployment base,” the ministry explained.

In addition, during the training, it is planned to prepare conscripts to perform tasks in accordance with their military specialties and job assignments, to restore the skills of the command staff of the district and battalion headquarters of the territorial troops in managing subordinates, and to practice the formation, training and use of a people’s militia unit.
