On the morning of Friday, March 22, Russian occupants shelled infrastructure and energy facilities across Ukraine. In particular, a hit was recorded at Ukraine’s largest hydroelectric power plant, the Dnipro HPP in Zaporizhzhia, the press service of Ukrhydroenergo reported.
“Early this morning, Russian missiles once again attacked numerous targets across Ukraine, including energy facilities. Unfortunately, the largest hydroelectric power plant in Ukraine – DniproHES in Zaporizhzhia – was hit. The inhumans did not calm down after destroying Kakhovka HPP and are now trying to create a new environmental disaster by cynically hitting the DniproHES hydroelectric facilities and dam,” the company’s press service said.
As of the morning, the fire continues at the station. Ukrhydroenergo reported that emergency workers and power engineers are working at the site of the hit. The company added that there is no threat of a dam breach, and the situation at the DniproHES dam is under control.
Traffic on the road crossing of the Dnipro HPP dam is completely restricted – police report
The Russians could clearly track the consequences and targeting of the attack on the DniproHES, which was carried out today, March 22, via a YouTube broadcast.
This was reported by Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol.
In its turn, the Center for Countering Disinformation reported that
Russia is preparing a number of IPSOs after massive shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to sow panic among the population.
“DniproHES is standing. More official information will follow later. But the Center is already recording various fakes about the “destruction of the dam” launched by the enemy, as well as the statement that “Ukraine will be completely left without electricity”. All this information is untrue,” the statement said.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the shelling of the DniproHES. He stated that the necessary services are already operating in the cities where the attacks took place, and emphasized the urgent need for more air defense equipment.
“During that night, there were more than 60 “shaheds” and almost 90 missiles of various types. The world sees the targets of Russian terrorists as clearly as possible: power plants and energy supply lines, a hydroelectric dam, ordinary residential buildings, even a trolleybus. Russia is at war against ordinary people’s lives. Russian missiles have no delays, like aid packages to our country. The Shahedin do not have indecision like some politicians. It is important to understand the cost of delays and postponed decisions. Patriot systems must protect Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, and we need air defense to protect people, infrastructure, houses and dams,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
