American billionaire Elon Musk’s company Neuralink showed its first patient who was implanted with a brain chip. A man with paralysis used only his brain to play online chess.

Nolan Arbo, 29, was paralyzed from the shoulders down after the accident. In January, he decided to implant a chip from Neuralink, Elon Musk’s company.

Now Nolan has tried to play chess with the computer. He moved the mouse cursor just by thinking about it. The technology is not perfect and still has problems, but they will be fixed over time.

According to Noland Arbaugh, the operation was “extremely easy” and he was discharged from the hospital a day later, with no cognitive impairment.

In the future, Musk’s company plans to make chips that will help paralyzed people get back on their feet.

Neuralink says that human trials, which have been authorized in the United States, will evaluate the functionality of the interface, which allows people with tetraplegia or paralysis of all four limbs to control devices with their thoughts.

Elon Musk’s brain implant startup Neuralink, which was valued at almost $2 billion two years ago, is now worth about $5 billion.
