According to the estimates of The Insider, 9 refineries have already been hit since the beginning of the year. The attacks are far from innocent.
Eight refineries with a total installed capacity of 83 million tons per year (the total installed capacity of the attacked refineries is 178 million tons per year) were severely damaged.
Taking into account only the damage to primary refining facilities, 46 million tons per year of refining capacity was affected, i.e. 14% of the total refinery capacity and 17% of the oil processed in 2023.
According to sources in the oil industry, the next targets may be facilities in Ryazan and Samara. “The Ryazan Oil Refining Company, owned by Rosneft, is the third largest refinery in the country and the largest in the Central Federal District. In a year, it alone is able to cover the needs of the Russian army and produce 3.6 million tons of gasoline, 4.5 million tons of diesel fuel and 1.2 million tons of jet fuel.
At the same time, the Kuibyshev (7 million tons), Novokuibyshev (8.3 million tons) and Syzran (8.5 million tons) refineries of the same Rosneft are located near Samara.
Meanwhile, in Russia, propagandists have been given a new methodology – propagandist Solovyov, for example, said that businesses should protect themselves from drones. Otherwise, the refinery may be returned to state ownership.
Only recently, the Defense Forces have hit a plant in the Kaluga region, as well as the Syzran and Novokuibyshev refineries.
On the night of March 17, a refinery in the Krasnodar Territory was targeted by drones.
