Public events continue to take place around the world with the main goal of stopping international support for Ukraine. These events, in the form of demonstrations, marches, and pickets, are mostly “anti-war” and pacifist in nature, but the Russian trace can be traced through one common demand: to stop “sending more weapons and armaments to Ukraine.”
We wrote about a similar action that was being prepared in Washington, which turned out to be rather small and marginal, but today, on February 25, an event is planned in London an event that may prove more successful for Russia.
Among the organizers and speakers of the announced event are well-known musician Brian Eno, rapper Lowkey, representatives of socialist and labor parties. The visit of a representative of the German far-left Die Linke party, Andriy Hunko, is worth noting. The irony is that this German citizen, born in Munich, a member of the Bundestag and PACE, has Ukrainian roots. And his grandfather fought in the so-called The Ukrainian National Army, an openly pro-Nazi organization, fought on the side of Germany during World War II.
The organizer of the event, the so-called Stop the War Coalition, was founded in 2001 and has consistently opposed any wars waged by democratic countries. In particular, against military campaigns in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, etc. Notably, some of the leading members of this association publicly support such terrorist organizations as Hamas and Hezbollah.
At the same time, this organization did not hold any protests against Russia’s military actions.
The largest events organized by the Stop the War Coalition gathered between 500,000 and 750,000 participants, so they should not be considered completely marginal.
