Ukrainian engineers develop Sokol-300 attack drone that can fly 3,300 km (photos, video)

Engineers at Luch Design Bureau have designed the Sokol-300 attack drone. It can be driven by several types of motors. These are the Ukrainian powerplants MS-500-05C/CE and AI-450T2, as well as the Austrian Rotax 914. About this writes dev.ua.

The takeoff weight of the drone directly depends on the type of engine installed. For example, the Sokol modification with the AI-450T2 engine has a takeoff weight of 535 kg. If the UAV is equipped with a Rotax 914 engine, its takeoff weight will be reduced to 420 kg.

The Ukrainian attack drone is capable of flying at an altitude of up to 12 km. It is controlled by an inertial unit and laser gyroscopes. It was developed by the specialists of the Arsenal instrumentation enterprise. The drone is armed with RK-10, R2-M and RK-2P missiles. They can hit targets at a distance of up to 10 km.

The drone can carry a synthetic aperture radar and a small-sized radar station. The accuracy of the radar’s ground scanning from a height of 5 kilometers is 30×30 cm. “The drone’s “eyes” are an optoelectronic station from the Barrier-B ATGM.

It is worth noting that not only the takeoff weight of the UAV, but also its flight range depends on the type of engine installed in the UAV. The modification with the Ukrainian AP-450T2 engine can cover a distance of up to 1,300 km. The range of a drone powered by the Rotax 914 engine can reach 3,300 km.
