On Monday, Oksana Leontieva left for work, dropped off her 5-year-old son Hryhoriy at a kindergarten and headed to the hospital. The first explosions in Kyiv occurred around 08:30 and killed the doctor. Enemy shells hit cars at the intersection of Taras Shevchenko Boulevard and Volodymyrska Street. Oksana Leontyeva was in one of the cars.

“She worked in the bone marrow transplantation unit for 11 years. Oksana saved children with blood cancer. This young woman was a true professional and a support to her patients and colleagues. She was a selfless and responsible person and doctor.”
