The research and analysis group InfoLight.UA has revealed an attempt by the Russian propaganda outlet Strana.ua to spread panic about mobilization in Ukraine by manipulating information about the temporary shutdown of elevators in Lubny.
On November 8, at 21:14, the publication published news about the alleged complete shutdown of all elevators in the city of Lubny, Poltava region, due to the mobilization of a specialist, citing a report from the city council.
However, the analysis showed that the propagandists deliberately ignored important information. The first message about the temporary shutdown of the elevators appeared at 11:54 a.m., and at 15:55 the same day, the city council announced that the elevators had resumed operation.
It is worth noting that more than 5 hours passed between the publication of the elevators’ resumption of operation and the manipulative news by Strana.ua, which is enough time to see the actual information.
Thus, the Russian publication used the temporary technical situation to create panic and counteract mobilization in Ukraine.
The example seems simple, but unfortunately, this technology is effective. We urge our readers to think critically and be attentive.
