The SBU detained an FSB agent in Sumy, who was a 22-year-old resident of Kherson region. He was collecting intelligence on the positions of Ukrainian forces near the Kursk operation area and passing it on to Russian handlers.

According to the investigation, the young man was remotely recruited by the FSB in August this year when he was looking for quick money on Telegram channels. Instead of money from the FSB, he received a suspicion from the SBU investigators under Part 1 of the Criminal Code. 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
