Mykolaiv City Council member Andriy Yantar called on council members elected from the OPFL and the Shariy Party to resign their seats.
He posted a corresponding appeal on his Facebook page, according to Druzhne TV.
“Ukrainian legislation does not yet provide for the automatic termination of deputy powers along with the ban on political parties from which candidates were nominated and elected as deputies. Such a rule would make it impossible for those collaborating politicians who have professed a pro-Russian position throughout their activities and share the fascist ideology of the “Russian world”. But I hope it is a matter of time.
The Ukrainian people will never forgive fascist Russia and their accomplices for the tens of thousands of Ukrainians killed and human lives destroyed. A special role in these crimes belongs to the pro-Russian political parties OPFL and Shariy’s Party, which acted in Ukraine against their own people in the interests of the aggressor state.
I appeal to the deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council of the VIII convocation, elected from the banned pro-Russian political parties “OPFL” and “Shariy’s Party”, especially to those deputies who may be tormented by remorse over their membership in these parties, and call on them to resign their deputy powers of their own free will by submitting appropriate applications,” the appeal reads.
