Who is he and how did he work for the enemy?

SBU officers thwarted an attempt by Russian special services to obtain fresh intelligence on the defensive positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kharkiv. During a special operation in the city, the SBU detained an enemy informant, a 49-year-old local resident, an employee of a publishing house, who was recruited via Telegram.

On the instructions of his supervisor, the man moved around the northern districts of the city, looking for possible reserve command posts of Ukrainian troops. He disguised his actions as business trips, and upon returning, he systematized the information he had gathered and sent it to the Russian side.

The occupiers planned to use the obtained coordinates for new air attacks, including the use of UAVs.

The detention was carried out at the suspect’s place of residence, and measures were promptly taken to protect Ukraine’s positions. During the search, a phone with messages and markings of potential targets on Google Maps was seized from him, including energy facilities, including modular boiler houses.

What threatens him?

The man was served a notice of suspicion under part. 2 Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – unauthorized dissemination of information on the location and movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is currently in custody. He faces up to 8 years in prison.
