American media platforms are actively adapting to the TikTok ban, trying to attract users of the popular ByteDance platform. Amid the situation, Instagram announces a new video editor called Edits, while X and Bluesky launch their own video feeds.

Instagram, which has long integrated the Reels video feed, has introduced a competitor to the popular CapCut video editor. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, announced the launch of Edits, a tool that the company positions as “more than just a video editor,” reports ain.ua reports.

The main features of Edits include:

  • A tab for inspiration and ideas.
  • High-quality camera and advanced editing tools.
  • The ability to share drafts with friends and colleagues.
  • Analytics to track the effectiveness of Instagram videos.

Apple users can already pre-order the app in the App Store, while Android users will have to wait until next month. Edits is currently being tested with selected content creators.

Elon Musk’s social network X is also launching a tab with video content, which will become an interactive space for viewing previously published videos.

Bluesky, another social media competitor, offers users a customizable video feed that can be customized to their preferences.

The ban on TikTok in the United States came into effect on January 18 due to national security concerns. Chinese companies, including ByteDance, are required to cooperate with the Chinese government, which is a concern for American politicians.

Although access was briefly restored following President Donald Trump’s announcement, many users have turned to alternatives, including the Chinese platform RedNote, which also raises questions about data security.

The TikTok ban creates new opportunities for American platforms. Instagram, X, and Bluesky are actively developing their services to attract new users and strengthen their positions in the video content market.
