According to the latest sociological survey conducted by the Social Monitoring Center from November 15 to 21, 2024, former Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi and the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov were the only public figures in Ukraine with a level of trust of more than 50% and a positive balance of trust among the population. At the same time, the number of supporters of holding elections during the war is growing, and currently stands at 33%.
The survey, which included 1,200 respondents, showed a high level of appreciation for the performance of both military leaders in their positions and their personal authority. Notably, their support is based on similar socio-demographic groups.
Unlike the military leadership, the trust rating of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed a negative balance, although not critical.
“Representatives of the defense forces enjoy maximum authority, and their level of recognition is automatically transformed into a level of trust.” – commented MP Serhiy Rakhmanin.
The study also found that 47% of Ukrainians expect the war to last more than a year. This is in line with the fact that the number of supporters of holding elections is increasing, as elections are unavoidable in long-term planning.
Today, we have a huge amount of work to do to prepare for post-war elections. This is a challenge to our sustainability as a democracy.
– was noted during the presentation of the study.”
American sociologist Jason Smart noted: “The demand for military leadership is explained by the need to ensure long-term security. “Ukrainians want elections, but they realize that there are no adequate security conditions for them to be held today,” – he said.
The survey was conducted by electronic individual interviews commissioned by American Political Services, LLC.
The research method was a telephone interview.
A total of 1200 respondents were interviewed. The sample is representative of the population of Ukraine aged 18 and older in terms of gender, age, type of settlement, and region of residence.
The field stage of the study was conducted from November 15 to 21, 2014.
The standard deviations at 99% confidence level for the ratio of variables from 0.1:0.9 to 0.5:0.5 are 1.8-2.9%.
