According to the SBU , Russian actor Vladimir Mashkov, who actively supported Russia’s war against Ukraine , was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison. His 100 m² apartment in an elite district of Odesa was also confiscated.
Since Mashkov is hiding in Russia, the trial took place in absentia, in a special in absentia proceeding.
Mashkov is one of the Kremlin’s propagandists who regularly speaks at rallies in support of Russia’s war. In December 2023, he became co-chairman of Putin’s “election headquarters”, visited the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and supported the occupation forces. During his speeches, he called for the continuation of missile attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.
Following the SBU investigation, Mashkov was found guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: encroachment on territorial integrity and war propaganda:
▪️ ч. 2 Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
▪️ art. 436 (propaganda of war).
Measures are currently being taken to bring the actor to justice for his crimes.
