Sources. Research and analysis group InfoLight.UA military intelligence confirms the fact of a successful cyberattack on Russian banking institutions that provide financing for Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
According to available information, on November 8, large-scale DDOS attacks severely disrupted the operations of several Russian banks, including Morskoy Bank, RNKB Bank, and Bank St. Petersburg.
As of 14:00, open sources recorded numerous complaints from users about the inability to conduct banking transactions. Bank websites, mobile applications and personal accounts are down.
There have also been reports of ATM and terminal malfunctions and problems with bank card payments. In some cases, bank customers have been unable to receive salaries and other transfers.
It is worth noting that the problems affected at least 29 cities of the Russian Federation. Banking institutions in the occupied Crimea – Genbank, RNKB, Bank Center-Invest and CreditUralBank – were particularly hard hit.
According to the sources, the GUR’s cyber specialists continue to attack the financial system of the aggressor country, which will make the problems in the banks’ operations worse.
We continue to monitor the situation and await additional information from our sources.
