The Security Service of Ukraine detained three Russian accomplices who collaborated with the occupiers in Kherson region. Among the detainees is a woman from the regional center who was an agent of the Russian military intelligence (GRU) and adjusted enemy fire on Ukrainian forces. She was traveling around the community on a scooter, trying to identify the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which were her priority targets. She sent the information she collected to the Russian GRU in the form of screenshots from Google Maps.
The second detainee was a 60-year-old former law enforcement officer who joined the occupation administration after the city was seized. He became the “deputy for legal affairs” to the former governor Oleksandr Kobets and was responsible for preparing a pseudo-referendum on the region’s accession to Russia.
The third detainee is also a resident of Kherson, who during the occupation was a member of the so-called “Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in Kherson region”. She was engaged in the forced registration of Russian citizenship for local residents.
The SBU served the detainees suspicion notices under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: high treason (Article 111, Part 2) and collaboration (Article 111-1, Parts 5 and 7). The offenders are in custody and face a sentence of 15 years to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
