The regional and district offices of the Servant of the People party in Kharkiv region hosted a series of events dedicated to combating fakes and disinformation. The trainings were attended by MPs of various levels from the Servant of the People party, party members and residents of the region, and some participants joined online.

The keynote speaker was Yuriy Goncharenko, Head of the InfoLight.UA Research and Analytical Group.

“It is easy to lose balance and understanding of what is true and what is fiction in the information flow. I hope that today’s discussion of the problematic issue will allow the participants to better understand what they should pay attention to,” said Goncharenko.

The training covered methods of detecting disinformation, psychological influences, practical tips on fact-checking, and principles of information hygiene. Particular attention was paid to Russian information and psychological operations and how to counter them.

“The topic of fakes is very relevant today in the Kharkiv region. We see various attempts to manipulate sensitive topics aimed at destabilizing society,” said Volodymyr Usov, a member of the Dergachiv City Council from the Servant of the People party.

Participants received information materials with practical recommendations on how to counter disinformation.

According to the organizers, a new information security training course is scheduled for the second half of November.
