The Kremlin has decided to form assault units of convicts suffering from hepatitis B and C to participate in the war against Ukraine. Order of Russian Defense Minister Belousov No. 610 of October 10, 2024, excludes hepatitis C from the list of diseases that prevent service in the army. This was reported by the GUR.
A special procedure for enrolling hepatitis patients in the occupation forces designates them as “contingent C”. Before being sent to the front, they are formally injected with a hepatitis B vaccine and undergo a course of hepatitis C treatment.
It is estimated that this mobilization will involve thousands of prisoners. For example, in the prisons of the Central Military District, there are about 10,000 people with hepatitis, of whom 15% have expressed a desire to fight.
The first four assault companies of sick prisoners are being formed as part of the 1435th and 1437th motorized rifle regiments. These newly created units, named after hepatitis B-C, are to be deployed to the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
Given the heavy casualties and possible protests in the cities, Moscow is using everyone, even those with illnesses, to continue its aggressive war.
