The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained one of the officials of the National Energy Company Ukrenergo, who justified Russia’s armed aggression and war crimes of the Nazis, and questioned the statehood of Ukraine. The detainee, the head of the security department of the state-owned enterprise, was responsible for the protection of strategically important facilities of the energy system.
According to the SBU, the official justified Russian air attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and disclosed information about the consequences of missile and drone strikes. He also praised the Kremlin regime and expressed a desire for the mass murder of Ukrainians.
SBU cyber specialists documented these actions, and after examination, the detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation is ongoing to establish possible facts of disclosure of state secrets.
