According to the sources Charter97.orgsources, the channel for the supply of Indian shells to Ukraine may soon be closed due to the publication of data on the relevant contracts.
“The Ukrainian company Spetstechnoexport, which has successfully supplied tens of thousands of such munitions, may lose important foreign partners and an established channel,” the source said.
According to him, the market is talking about a political factor: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to maintain a neutral position. “It is possible that the leak of the contracts to the press could have been the work of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff, which is in charge of such issues,” the source added.
On September 19, Reuters reported that Kyiv receives Indian ammunition through European countries, including the Czech Republic and Italy. Indian components for the production of ammunition may be entering Ukraine through Spain and Slovenia.
According to the agency, Moscow has twice tried to convince New Delhi to stop these supplies. In particular, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about this with the Indian Foreign Minister. However, the Kremlin’s efforts were ignored.
On October 3, Ukrayinska Pravda published an article with information about contracts related to the supply of Indian-made shells. In particular, the name of an intermediary company that was supposed to supply mortar rounds but has allegedly not yet fulfilled them was published.
After the publication of this information, the head of the Ukrainian company Spetstechnoexport, Oleksiy Petrov, filed a crime report with the Security Service of Ukraine.
We continue to monitor the situation and try to obtain additional information from our own sources.
