SBU detains UOC-MP priest who was preparing to strike at the echelons of the Armed Forces in Kharkiv region

The SBU detained a priest of the UOC (MP), who was an agent of the Russian game and was preparing a strike on the echelons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kharkiv region.

The man has Russian citizenship and was recruited by Russian special services before the full-scale invasion. The rector of one of the Kharkiv churches of the UOC-MP was supposed to collect information on the schedules and routes of the Armed Forces echelons.

According to our information, it is the rector of the St. Panteleimon Church of the Kharkiv Diocese of the UOC (MP), Russian citizen Konstantin Seleznev.

After the invasion of Russia , he was contacted by a staff member of the of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (known as Gru). He has already been identified by the Security Service.

The cleric was given the task: to collect information about the schedules and routes of movement of the Armed Forces echelons in the Kharkiv region.

In order to obtain intelligence, the priest engaged his friend, an employee of the local branch of Ukrzaliznytsia.

The latter gave the priest access to official documents on the movement of echelons.

The clergyman was supposed to send the footage to his supervisor via an anonymous chat in a messenger.

After each communication session , the defendants deleted the correspondence.

In case of receivinga “detailed report,” the occupiers planned to carry out a fire attack at the specified coordinates.

During the search , mobile phones and SIM cards of various operators with evidence of reconnaissance and subversive activities were seized from them.

Currently, SBU investigators have served the cleric and his accomplice with a notice of suspicion under Part 1. 3 Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information on the sending, movement of weapons, armaments and ammunition to Ukraine, movement movement, relocation or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law).

The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.

The offenders are in custody.
