On July 29 , in the morning, several OSINTchannels published satellite images confirming the damage to one of the Tu-22M strategic aircraft at the Olenya airfield.
The representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Andrii Yusov said during the telethon today: “This is truly an Olympic achievement of the Ukrainian defense forces, special forces and the GUR. We are not commenting on what and where , but the Commander-in-Chief noted the range. Of course, the direction is not difficult to guess. As for the fact of damage, we confirm the fact of the incident, the damage, something hit somewhere “. According to Yusov, this was an important target, as the enemy has no capabilities to produce such equipment. The aircraft was used to strike civilian targets, as well as Ukraine’s civilian and energy infrastructure.
It is worth noting that the quality of the published images was extremely poor. However, certain changes at the airfield were visible.
After that, at 12:45 , the telegram channel of the Russian edition of Radio Liberty published similar short videos with allegedly high quality images, which were supposed to show that there was no damage.
“A high-resolution satellite image from July 27 shows no visible traces of a Ukrainian strike on the Olenyacha strategic aviation base in the Murmansk region,” the Russian service’s telegram channel wrote, despite the fact that this information was not available on the website at the time of publication.
We compared the two images and invite our readers to do the same.
Notice how rapidly the vegetation has grown in a day, apparently bushes or trees. It seemed strange to us.
Also, after the publication , a large number of Russian and some Ukrainian TV channels published that allegedly “Radio Svoboda” disgraced the GUR of Ukraine, by refuting the Ukrainian Armed Forces ‘ lies about the downing of a Tu-22 at an airfield in the Murmansk region”.
The telegram channel”Lachen pisu” published a general picture of the airfield on 27.07, the source of which we have not yet found.
When we enlarged this image, we saw some inconsistencies with what was published bythe Radio Liberty TV channel.
We are continuing to investigate the situation and are sending inquiries to all those who made these publications. At the same time , we are trying to obtain information from our own sources and verify the published information.
So far , the published images from Radio Liberty are questionable, due to a sharp change in vegetation (it is likely that the image of allegedly 27.07 was taken at a completely different time, when the airplane was still intact ). The organization of the promotion of this information is also suspicious.
