Polish scientific journal “Political Science and Security Studies” has published an analytical article on the role of Ukrainian naval drones during the war with Russia. The most effective surface drone is the Magura V5 drone of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, which destroyed the most Russian ships during the full-scale aggression.
According to the data published in the Political Science and Security Studies Journal, Ukrainian naval drones hit 22 Russian warships in total, of which 8 were completely destroyed. Magura V5 demonstrated the highest efficiency:
- He attacked 14 ships.
- He completely destroyed 8 of them.
Among the confirmed targets are Magura V5:
- Reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs (damaged).
- Patrol ship “Sergei Kotov” (damaged twice, later sunk).
- Landing boats D-144 Serna and D-295 Akula (sunk).
- The Ivanovets missile boat (sunk).
- The large landing ship Caesar Kunikov (sunk).
According to unofficial data, the total losses of the Russian fleet from Magura V5 attacks exceed $500 million.
The Magura V5 drone is used by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. It became the world’s first maritime drone with confirmed targets destroyed in combat.
Representatives of the GUR stated that when choosing targets for Magura, they consider objects within a radius of up to 800 kilometers. They also confirmed the installation of R-73 missiles on the drones, which significantly enhanced their combat potential.
