On the night of May 30, explosions were heard on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula. InfoLight.UA’ s sources in the Security and Defense Forces reported that the operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR) resulted in the destruction of a Russian invaders’ boat of the KC-701 “Tuna” type.
According to propaganda Telegram channels, around 02:30, the occupiers stopped traffic across the Kerch Bridge. Local residents of Kerch reported that about 10 explosions were heard over the bridge.
Later, Crimean “official” Oleg Kryuchkov said that two ferries were damaged that night – a railroad and a car ferry. However, InfoLight.UA’ s source could not confirm the damage to the ferries, but confirmed the damage to the boat KC-701 “Tuna”.
Subsequently, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine published the details of the operation on its resources. It is reported that on May 30, 2024, a special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine “Group 13”, using Ukrainian Magura V5 strike marine drones, once again successfully attacked the ship and boat fleet of the aggressor state in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
A video has also been published.
The successful special operation was made possible with the support of the global United24 platform. In order to neutralize the maritime attack drones on the approach to the Narrow Bay, the Russian occupiers in Crimea took combat aircraft into the sky 32 times, including Su-27/30/35, MiG-29, Be-12, An-26 aircraft and Ka-27/29 and Mi-8 helicopters. The invaders also chaotically used small arms and 30-mm cannons.
Despite all the obstacles, the DIU Special Forces successfully completed a combat mission: the strike destroyed two Russian boats – according to preliminary data, high-speed amphibious transport and assault vessels KS-701 “Tuna”.
The information is being updated.
Since the beginning of 2024, the Group 13 special unit has already destroyed the Russian missile ship Ivanivets, the large amphibious assault ship Caesar Kunikov, the corvette Sergei Kotov, and the high-speed patrol boat Mangust using Magura V5 strike drones.
For reference, Tuna is a diesel boat with an aluminum hull designed for traveling or patrolling, and for recreation on the water. The length is 8.8 m, the width is 2.5 m, and the passenger capacity is up to six people. These boats are mostly used by Russian border guards and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
