Local armageddon is brewing in the Belgorod region – post offices and hospitals are being closed

Russian Post offices have been closed in the Belgorod region. Residents of the region are cut off from relevant services. But the biggest problem is the impossibility of receiving pension payments, which in Russia are accrued through post offices.

After massive appeals to the governor of the Belgorod region, it turned out that the closure and “evacuation” of post offices took place without any approval from the authorities. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov explained that the branches made the decision on their own and promised to appeal to the department’s management to conduct an internal investigation: “Let’s imagine that all municipal, state, and emergency services will now abandon their work and go home. I think it’s hard to imagine. It is unacceptable”.

Meanwhile, residents of the region are frantically searching for an opportunity to receive their pensions. In particular, residents of the Hayvoronsky district found out that the only working branch was in the village of Borysivka. As a result, they arrive en masse at the central post office of a small village, which by definition is not designed for such an influx of customers.

There are also disruptions in the work of other government services. One of the biggest problems is arbitrarily closed hospitals, whose employees do not want to or cannot get to work. For this reason, the prenatal department of the city of Staryi Oskol stopped working. Women in labor are sent from there to… Belgorod! Despite the fact that the old shard is located 140 kilometers inland from Belgorod and the fighting (unlike Belgorod itself) practically did not affect this city.

Currently, there is no electricity supply in 13 settlements in the Belgorod region. People complain about the lack of heating points, the ability to charge cell phones or buy basic necessities.
